Baldan Vraibun temple dubbed as Mongolian Utai Gumben

If you are traveling in Mongolia and thinking of visiting Khentii aimag the Baldan Vraibun temple should be on top of the list of places to visit.

The temple is located 60 km away from Umnudelger soum of Khentii aimag at the West Jargalant valley.

The location boasts with woods and cliffs where one can see the amazing stone formations and even see the stone formation to remind the map of Mongolia. Moreover, there are wish trees worshiped by the locals.

The history of this temple dates back to 1654 and is said to be established by Tseveendorj lama, who studied in Tibet together with Holy Zanabazar.

Over 8,000 monks have studied at this temple, which gained its fame during XIX century.

In 1937 the temple was invaded by the communist regime and only remains of the temple were left. The reconstruction of the site began sice 1990.

In 2012 the location and natural environment of the Baldan Vraibun temple was registered as one of the world heritages of UN.
