Western Mongolia is a country of majestic snow capped mountains and different ethnic groups. Among the ethnic group, Kazak, Muslim people are the most famous as they have been preserving their custom and tradition in its origin compared with Kazaks of different countries. They hunt with trained eagle, every family has dombra, traditional musical instrument and play, dance and sing with the instrument, wear traditional embroidered clothes and live in colorful, decorated with embroidery, slightly bigger ger than gers of other part of Mongolia. They celebrate Eagle hunting festival and Traditional New year every year. See them in events part. Also the famous throat singing is originated from western Mongolia. You can meet with people whose sing with throat may can practice. Mongolia considered cradle of first men. Particularly, western Mongolia contains many evidence of earliest man as petroglyps in the caves and on rock, first man’s settlements, burial mounds, and stone figures belongs to different period of history and more. 

Fresh water and salty lakes majestic Altai Mountains are beautiful and extremely rich in wild species and birds, some of them endemic. Every year definite number of hunters travel to Mongolia and head to Altai Mountains to hunt particular number of mountain sheep and ibex, those considered the biggest in body size and have big horns according to allowed permission.

Western Mongolia, majestic Altai Mountains, great lakes and custom and tradition of various ethnic groups of the region attracting tourists’ interest year by year. Among the ethnics, Kazaks, Turkish speaking, Moslem people differs from others. 5% of Mongolia’s 2.700000 population are Kazak. They live in the remotest western Bayan-Ulgii province. Mongolian Kazaks known that they have been strictly preserving their tradition and custom compared with Kazaks of Kazakstan and Kazaks in all corner of world. So their distinctive way of life, custom and tradition such as their gers are fully decorated with embroidery, how they train eagles for hunting, how they hunt by eagles, their special customs before and after meal, even how they prepare meals is different than Mongolians and the majestic Altai mountains Kazaks live there etc. Every Kazak family have stringed musical instrument resembling a lute named “dombra”, play with this and sing song amazingly.

Great Lake’s depression

The Great Lakes Basin (or Depression) in western Mongolia represents a unique ecosystem, containing some of the last remaining vast reed beds in central, sharp contrast of high mountains and steppe and the semi-arid desert-steppe bordering the diverse wetlands. Several globally endangered species survive in the region: the last remaining population of Mongolian saiga in desert-steppe habitat, dalmatian pelican in wetlands and snow leopard in adjacent mountains.
